Practice Range Style

Over the weekend, this guy was hitting next to me in a stall at the range. Emphasis on hitting. He was holding his driver like a weapon and attempting to inflict serious bodily harm to the ball.

Turns out it was essentially his first time at the range trying to hit balls. He’d tagged along on a company golf outing and someone gave him a set of old clubs, and he was out to learn with no library, no Golf Digest subscription, no “golf” list on YouTube, and no prep-time watching The Golf Channel.

But he sure looked great. According to research, millenials find dressing up part of golf’s allure.

I put a 9-iron in his hand and gave him some fundamentals, and an hour later his learning curve was rocketing vertical.
